Comment
Photograph is likely an albumen print on thin paper, mounted on paper card and trimmed to fit frame. This process was not popular in American until closer to the 1860s, at which point Mary had already passed. The style of dress and age of the sitter also suggest that the photographer may have been capturing a portrait of the subject and not the sitter herself.
