Description
White and multi-colored cotton patchwork signature quilt. Colors of pink, purple, red, tan, green, blue and brown. 70 blocks with hand-written script signatures that appear to be written by the same person on 65 of the blocks. White cotton back. White silk grosgrain pocket for hanging. Tied with white yarn. Pink cross-stitched label on back: "Signature Quilt / made by / Carrie Peck and Mother, Grandma Hutchinson In Mid / 1800's / Assembled by Milton Women's Club / 1998." Pink cross-stitched at bottom right corner initials: [Y.] E. W. / with the number 6 in a diamond shape. Quilt top hand stitched.
Provenance
Made by Carrie Peck, her mother and her grandmother Hutchinson in the middle of the 1800s. Donated by the Milton Woman's Club. A list of signatures on the quilt is included in the accession file.
