Description
Patchwork and knotted quilt. Composed of 90 square patches each with pieced "Flower Basket" pattern, and containing ink signature of Bennett Family member complete with familial identifier, in ink under each basket handle. Each square is 7 1/2" in size. Squares joined with red and/or blue cotton thread using feather stitch. Stuffed with cotton, knotted with natural cotton twine and backed with blue and white striped cotton patterned ticking.
Comment
In the first row Sumnec Bennet/Father and Clara Bennett/Mother with John Bailey Sr./Father and Hannah Bailey/Mother. There are other names in first row as well but possibly quilt is documenting joining of these two family through marriage possibly? No one listed as bride or groom although on the second line Ben Bailey is identified as "Husband" and Stella Bailey as "Wife"
