Description
One of a set of four matching armchairs. Aluminum frame armchair made by the Warren McArthur Corporation. Anodized aluminum frame formed by tubular members joined by aluminum rings. Raised on four legs supported by rubber disc pads, with straight front legs and slightly curved back legs. The front legs are joined by an inward curving stretcher just below the seat and are joined to the back legs by straight stretchers at mid-point. The back legs are joined by a straight stretcher, also at mid-point. The arms and arm supports are formed by continuous pieces of aluminum tubing beginning partway up the rounded continuous seat back and terminating just under the seat and joining with the front legs. The chair has a square upholstered seat and curved upholstered back with rounded upholstered armrests, all done in white muslin.

Part of a collection owned by twin brothers Dr. John Houlihan (dental surgeon) and Dr. James Houlihan (optometrist). Used in their medical office waiting room in Torrington, CT. Purchased in 1939 by Dr. John Houlihan from the Superintendent of the Warren McArthur Corporation in Bantam, CT.
