Description
License plate for use on Red Cross vehicles. Rectangular metal plate painted white on both sides. On one side, printed red cross with black lettering beneath, "American Red Cross." Four narrow openings for attaching plate to vehicle.
Provenance
From the estate of Margery Boyd (1906-1992), a longtime volunteer with the Litchfield Chapter, American Red Cross. Born in New York, Boyd moved to Litchfield with her family. She began with the Red Cross as a canvasser in 1927; founded the Chapter's Motor Service in 1942; and served as chapter chair on three occasions. She received the Connecticut Red Cross Volunteer Recognition Award and the Clara Barton Medal.
