Description
Early 20th-century tinplate boxcar, possibly made by Märklin. Rectangular car with two compartments, each accessed by two sliding doors, one on each side. The first compartment has solid sliding doors, the second has doors with open bars. The exterior of the car is painted light blue with thin vertical striping in a darker blue or black; the roof is painted black. Red and black lettering on each side reads "SPRR/CAPACITY 40,000 LBS." Buffers and car hookups at each end.
Provenance
Used and displayed in Sheldon Tavern. Donor believes they were played with in the attic, and belonged to Robert Lewis Fisher (1898-1977).
