Description
Red plastic bowl designed as a food or water bowl for pets. Circular bowl with inward sloping sides, flat bottom. Bowl is decorated on exterior with hand-painted scene showing a black cat and dog in a field of flowers, standing on either side of lettering "BUFFY." Hollow plastic shell with weighted interior, marked on bottom, "SUBURBAN PLASTICS, INC./THREE RIVERS MASS/PAT. PENDING/MADE IN U.S.A."
Provenance
The bowl belonged to Margaret "Peggy" Reventlow, an artist and the founder and president of the Connecticut Volunteer Services for the Blind and Handicapped (CVSBH). The bowl's decoration is attributed to her. The bowl was left in the Litchfield Studio of the CVSBH, where Reventlow would bring her dog.
