Description
Empire style drop-leaf work table. Table has a cherry finish (refinished) and a white porcelain replacement knobs. The table has hinged side leafs. Two drawers at end. Turned legs. The piece is signed and dated by the maker inside the table, behind the drawers. A checkerboard with game pieces was drawn on the underside of the top drawer. Original pulls are brass with the face of a man - perhaps the personification of the wind.
Provenance
The maker, William Warren, was the fiance of Delia Ann Coley, daughter of Samuel Coley and Lucinda Turner Coley.
Comment
The table originally had a mahogany finish.
