Description
Award metal and stand given to Art Webster by the Litchfield Mutual Fire Insurance Company. Circular bronze (or bronze-colored) medal set in rectangular wooden base. Obverse of medal shows central image of a firefighter using a speaking trumpet to signal a building fire in the distance. Embossed text set in ring around image, "LITCHFIELD MUTUAL FIRE INSURANCE COMPANY." On reverse, central image of the company's building of 21 South Street, with two wheat motifs flanking text "150 Years/1833/1983"; at top, strand of 15 stars above text "ARTHUR B. WEBSTER, JR."
Comment
After selling Arethusa Farm sometime before 1980, Art Webster became the Connecticut agricultural inspector for the Litchfield Mutual Fire Insurance Company for almost 20 years. He later served on the company's board of directors.
