Description
Rectangular sign made for Kilravock Farm of Litchfield, Connecticut. Wooden sign set in wooden frame, frame is painted white. Sign has evidence of light blue paint on background, with white paint underneath that is now visible. Painted black lettering on one side, "KILRAVOCK FARM/BROWN SWISS/LITCHFIELD, CONN." around a painted image of a cow, at center. The cow is largely worn, with only some of the original detail remaining. Reverse of sign is bare plywood panel.
Provenance
Sign was used as a display while exhibiting cows at events such as the Goshen Fair and Eastern States Exposition ("The Big E"). Donor's family owned the farm.
