Description
Plain oval body with straight oval spout riveted near base with shaped fruit wood handle opposite set in silver mounts top and bottom. Top has a deep molding with a domed lid hinged at one end and has an ova fruit wood finial attached with winged nut underneath. Top and bottom edges finished with three delicate lines. The sides are double walled for hot water which was filled by pouring in opening covered by hinged cover on top handle mount. Used for gravy or thick sauces. The hot water kept them warm enough to pour.
Comment
Purchased in 1930s by Dean and Mrs. Chalres Hyde Warren at an auctio. Used for hot water for tea. The hollow jacket kept water hot.
