Description
The large end is plugged with wood; stopper missing on other end. Small end is carved with octangular end 2" long, then has round section 1 1/4" long for carrying strap; the end of the light part is notched with curved lines & dots following pattern; below this is band of two lines with "made in the year 1775" scratched between them; the other end has similar with an unfinished inscription "made in S (E)--D I-P" There is an inscription in three vertical lines with two decorative bands between 1st & 2nd and small "Hourglass" cutouts between letters. "Zerediah Minard/Rocksbuary Camps/in Memory of War" Below, left to right are some unfinished scratches an Indian shooting bow & arrow facing right, at a winged Griffen with forked tail & tongue. Below Griffen is name "A. Flynt" in horizontal band. On other side in reverse left to right, is name "Dan Holbrook" then a reclining mermaid holding comb & mirror, crudely drawn. Below mermaid is name "Nath Holbrook" Filling in other spaces are scratches and initials "DH" twice
