Description
Rectangular plaque, aluminum with printer graphic on one side and adhesive sheet on reverse. White background with red lettering, "LITCHFIELD BUG IN," outlined in black. Below in black lettering, "VOLKSWAGEN CAR SHOW." Logo for the Litchfield Inn in the lower-left. At the center is a yellow outline of the state of Connecticut with a red star positioned over the town of Litchfield, with a red Volkswagen Type 181 (sold as the Thing in the United States). Black lettering to the right, "JUNE 23, 1996/LITCHFIELD INN/LITCHFIELD, CT." At lower-right is the logo for Camp Mohawk, presumably the beneficiary of the event.
Provenance
Annual event held at the Litchfield Inn beginning in 1988, possibly affiliated with the Connecticut Volkswagen Association (CVA). Chuck Piscanski and Tom Matulis are associated with is organization, according to a written history of the CVA. Examples of these plaques appear as part of awards for participating vehicles, mounted to wood plaques with nameplates below.
