Description
Pressed glass bottle, amber glass, with rounded front corners and squared back. Short neck with white plastic screw cap. Paper label affixed to front, white with red lettering, "CRUTH & MacDONALD/CORNER DRUG STORE/Robt. W. Doyle - Reg. Pharm. - Rita M. Doyle/LITCHFIELD, CONN." Phone number at bottom. Embossed text on back, "3iii" below neck and "Sari-Glas" at bottom. Embossed text on bottom, "Brockway/14."
Provenance
Robert Doyle worked as a pharmacist at Crutch & MacDonald before buying the business in 1961 and continuing as manager, owner, and pharmacist until 1994. Doyle's father owned a pharmacy in Torrington, where his brother worked. When the Torrington pharmacy closed, Doyle opened Crutch & MacDonald Medical Equipment, also on West Street. Rita Doyle, Robert's daughter, was working as a pharmacist at Crutch & MacDonald for about five years, and was there as early as 1982.
