Description
Buffalo hide shaped with the hump and the legs of the animal forming the top of the robe. Hide is edged with border of brown wool felt cut in points and lined with grey herribone wool with a dark grey stripe and red thread running through it. The lining is a grey-blue and white stripe flannel ticking. In one corner, marked in ink, A.C. Benton. probably for Amos Benton (b. 1775) married Rachel Catlin in 1799.
