Description
Unfinished veil, black darned lace on silk net. Square veil with pattern of darned flowers around outer edge; each flower comprised of ring of black petals surrounding white circles, with narrow strand of black petals and white circles underneath. One unfinished flower, missing black petals.
Provenance
Worked by Mrs. John Savage, who lived in New York at the corner of Varick and Franklin streets. John Savage was born in Portland, CT and was related to the Brainard family. He was vestryman of Christ Church in NY when he died in 1845.
