Olive brown wool jacket; stand up collar with one "US" button; four patch pockets; metal buttons; two patches on right arm - circular one with white propeller on black field and green chevron patch - three stripes, propeller with wings; epaulets; lined with light weight wool; label inside jacket "The Tate-Brown Company Charlotte, NC."

Judging from the insignia, the owner served in either the Aviation Section of the Signal Corps (prior to 1918) or the United States Army Air Service (after 1918) during World War I.
