            Description
                Dark brown glazed jug with attached handle at narrow rim and top of body.  Narrow, straight neck with bulbous body, plain base.  Slight incised line at shoulder.   Had tag attached to handle (see file for tag) with braided cotton string (orange and black).  It read "The little brown jug is of baked clay and comes from an old potter whose hands did not shake.  He and his forbears have made these jugs for two hundred years.  Roycroft Products Co., East Aurora, NY."  Opposite side of the tag describes the maple syrup that the jug once contained.   Jug impressed on bottom "Roycroft Shops/East Aurora."

                Once contained maple syrup.  Donor found jug in her uncle's barn.
