Description
Black silk mourning dress. Square yoke with embroidered lace. Chantilly lace ruffle down center-front sides. Eleven covered buttons for closure at front. Full sleeves with lace ruffles at cuff. Band collar with ruffles. Blonde Valenciennes lace ruffle at neck and cuffs. Pin tucks on back. Short train with black velvet ribbon facing. Lavender silk lining. Ribbon ties attached at waist.

Descended in donor's family (Lyon/Haight/Griswold). Possibly worn by Charlotte Disoway Gilbert (1837-1915).
