Description
Earthenware vase created in a two-part mold with matte taupe exterior glaze. Interior is lead glazed. Vase has applied strapwork decoration in a darker taupe color outlined with a silver lustre. The lip of the vase is scalloped and pierced. The two molded handles are applied. One side has an applied figure pouring water from a pitcher in high relief. The other side features a man in Chinese costume carrying a basket of flowers on his back. His feet meet the strapwork decoration. There is a crescent shaped distinguishing mark where the exterior glaze did not completely cover the body during production. One of two identical vases, and one of a set of three matching vases.
