Description
Wooden key cabinet from Camp Columbia in Morris, CT. Dark stained wood with hinge along left side and hook clasp on right. Rectangular construction with two-piece wooden handle at top. Each half of the cabinet is formed by four rectangular pieces of solid wood, joined together with dado and rabbet joints. The top and bottom pieces have a 0.5" lip on the outer edge, into which is fitted a rectangular piece of plywood which forms the front and back of the cabinet. The cabinet has 36 total compartments, formed in each half by two horizontal pieces of wood set into the frame with dado joints, and 15 horizontal pieces of chipboard. All but two compartments have paper labels at the bottom; most also have a number above written in ink. Each compartment has a metal hook at the top for holding the key.

Camp Columbia ran from 1885-1983, providing a field school for Columbia's engineering and surveying students.
