Description
Small oval portrait of woman wearing a black dress with a V neckline. Neckline decorated with lace ruffled trim. Red shawl wrapped around her shoulders. Woman has brown hair parted down the middle and pulled back low, over her ears, at bottom of neckline. Framed in oval wooden frame with carved decoration. Three dimensional ornament at top of frame.
Comment
Elizabeth Prince was a student at Litchfield Female Academy in 1830-1832. She was the great niece of Mrs. Daniel Sheldon and was raised by her aunt Lucy Sheldon Beach. She returned to live with Lucy Beach after her husband died. She remained in the Daniel Sheldon house after the death of Lucy in 1889.
