Description
Sugar bowl has a gilt vine motif and is decorated with gold bands, gold lines on handles, and a band with a gold border and red leaf and scroll. Sugar bowl is oval and has two handles. This sugar bowl is heavier and slightly smaller than 1964-15-3 A-B and has a different lid finial (wave on petals). It was probably made later. Both bowl and lid are marked "Cauldon, England" and "J.Mc.D and S. Boston." Also "Ware" and "1895" are painted on the bottom. Asian inspired design. This is the wedding tea set of Anna Pierce Brace, (Mrs. Charles Loring, married May 6, 1818). Wedgwood #714, "Bittersweet." It was inherited from Mrs. Pennypacher's mother, Mrs. Ruth Loring Whitman; and by her from Mary Hopkins Loring; and by her from Anna Pierce Brace Loring.
