Description
Six quill pens, ranging in length. Traces of black ink on all, with all six tips unbroken. Only one still has remnants of white feather. The pens may have been intentionally shortened, judging by how square the cuts are at the ends. One quill has the name "JOHNSON" visible on two sides above the tip, created by removing white coloring from the inside of the quill around the outline of each letter. One side has the N and both S's reversed.

Donated with items related to John Henry Hubbard (1804-1872), a state legislator and lawyer who lived in Litchfield from 1855 to his death, during which time he served as member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
