Description
Pressed glass medicine bottle, clear glass with rounded front corners and beveled back corners with flat back. Short neck with flat rim. Embossed lettering on bottom, "WT" in inverted triangle with "U.S.A./J" underneath. Paper label affixed to front, blue text on off-white, "CRUTCH&MARLEY/CORNER DRUG STORE/W.M. MARLEY, REG. PHARMACIST/LITCHFIELD, CONN." Prescription information below, handwritten, including prescribing doctor (Turkington).
Provenance
Crutch & Marley was a successor to Crutch's Pharmacy, formed by the partnership of Aaron Crutch and William Marley, sometime around 1918. Marley later moved to a pharmacy down West Street which would later become Murphy's Pharmacy.
