Black beaver skin cocked hat; protruding in front and back; fold down center of hat trimmed in gold ribbon; ribbon ruffled near crown; tip of protrusion decorated with gol and blue coils and spheres; on right side, two gold ribbons side by side cam over the fold and down the side of the hat ending in a point with a button decorated with an eagle near bottom; light brown band and white silk lining inside; label "The Mark of Merit/Meyer New York/Government Standard"
