Description
Pair of trench art candlesticks made from shell casings. Circular base made from heavy brass disk. Large bolt inserted through center of disk, attaching a hollow brass metal tube that forms the stem of the candlestick. Tube flares outward at the top to forms a slight sconce.
Provenance
Candlesticks were made by Robert F. Reynolds while serving on the USS San Jacinto during World War II, in the ship's machine shop. Reynolds later served as principal of Bantam School, Center School and assistant principal of the Litchfield Junior High School.
