Comment
Abstract painter Robert Jay Wolff attended Yale before heading to Europe, where he studied sculpture and painting at the École des Beaux Arts. After achieving recognition for his bronze sculptures at the Chicago Art Institute, Wolff moved away from sculpture in 1936 and began his work in abstract painting. He started exhibiting with the American Abstract Artists the following year, and joined the art department at Brooklyn College. Wolff published two books on art and design, as well as three children’s books on color: Feeling Blue, Seeing Red, and Hello, Yellow!
