Description
Blue cotton patch, American Red Cross. Rectangular patch with red embroidered edge and dark blue ground. White embroidered lettering, "BLOOD DONOR SERVICE." Cotton backstitching on reverse; cut edge.
Provenance
From the estate of Margery Boyd (1906-1992), a longtime volunteer with the Litchfield Chapter, American Red Cross. Born in New York, Boyd moved to Litchfield with her family. She began with the Red Cross as a canvasser in 1927; founded the Chapter's Motor Service in 1942; and served as chapter chair on three occasions. She received the Connecticut Red Cross Volunteer Recognition Award and the Clara Barton Medal.
