Oval watercolor portrait miniature in rectangular wooden frame painted black. Miniature shows an older woman from the bust up. Sitter wears a dark coat with white ruffled shirt and white veil.
Provenance
This portrait miniature belonged to the Fisher family who lived in the Sheldon Tavern in Litchfield, CT.
Comment
The sitter, Dorothea Fisher Crossette, was born in 1810 and died in 1888. She was the mother of Aurelia Safford Crossette Fisher.
