Square cardboard prescription box, dark blue exterior with textured, lighter blue paper overlaid. Interior of off-white. Top is hinged with blue fabric tape. Label on top, blue text on off-white paper, "CRUTCH & MacDONALD/ROB'T O'BRIEN, REG PHARMACIST/LITCHFIELD, CONN." Handwritten prescription information underneath.
Provenance
Robert Doyle worked as a pharmacist at Crutch & MacDonald before buying the business in 1961 and continuing as manager, owner, and pharmacist until 1994. Doyle's father owned a pharmacy in Torrington, where his brother worked. When the Torrington pharmacy closed, Doyle opened Crutch & MacDonald Medical Equipment, also on West Street.
