Description
The spun bowl and cover are an adaptation of the Chinese covered bowls. The bowl is wide and is attached to a hollow molded base. The edge was hammered into a wide shelf and then bent again to form slanting rim at right angle to it. The domed cover with a molded band attached in a circle on top, fits snugly over bowl's rim. Hallmark "EP" in square on bottom of bowl.
Comment
Bowl made for William and Mary Jones, maternal grandparents of Mary (Floyd) Tallmadge. Engraved on bottom of bowl "Made for/William Floyd/by/Elias Pelletreau" with hallmark at center.
