Description
Copper wire sculpture of flowers by Asa D. Hall, a blacksmith and sculptor in East Litchfield. Seven copper wires extend from black metal base. Wires bend in different directions and terminate in either copper flowers or leaves. Sculpture has five flowers, two with four pointed petals, one with four rounded petals, one with two pointed petals, and one with two rounded petals. Marked "AH" on base with label on bottom. Label reads "MADE BY ASA D. HALL- BLACKSMITH/R. R. 3 EAST LITCHFIELD ROAD/LITCHFIELD CONN. 06759."
Provenance
Asa D. Hall lived in East Litchfield and worked at the American Brass mill in nearby Torrington. Towards the end of his life, Hall began blacksmithing and crafting hand-wrought metal sculptures, including both large outdoor sculptures and smaller pieces.
