Description
Oil on canvas portrait of Judge Edward W. Seymour, (1832-1892), an elderly man seated at a table, facing completely to the right, wearing a black judge's robe with white collar. Seated in armchair with black leather upholstery, at table with red cloth. Pen in right hand using it on a stack of paper in front of him. Wall bookcase in background to right and fireplace mantle to the left.
Comment
This sketch for a portrait is attributed to a Morse, but no other information about the artist is provided. The painting appears to be ca1890-1900, maybe a little earlier. Seymour died in 1892. His wife donated the finished portrait to the Courthouse in Bridgeport.
