Comment
This is a portrait of James Reeve Gould, the son of Judge Gould. It had been wrongly assumed that it was the Judge; however, in 1823, Gould would have been 53 years old, and the image in the miniature is of a much younger man. James Reeve Gould (1803-1830) attended the Litchfield Law School in 1824. He later practiced law in Augusta, Ga.
