Description
Long Windsor style bench. Arm rest on each side which curl under slightly on ends. 23 spindles across back - each spindle tapers at one end, two incised lines in each spindle. 4 pairs of legs underneath (8 total) with center stretcher and stretchers on each end of bench. Incised line around back of bench seat.
Comment
The bench was given to the museum by Peter Tillou. It was originally used as guest seating in the galleries but Cathy Fields took it off public use in 1987 and put it into the collection. It was not formally accessioned until 2009 but given a 1975 number as that is when it entered the museum's possession.
