Round metal tin containing Joseph Pickering & Sons "Blanco" cleaner. Zinc tin with removable lid, containing white, solid cleaning product. "BLANCO/MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN" in engraved lettering on top; "JOSEPH PICKERING & SONS/LTD/"BLANCO"/SHEFFIELD" in embossed lettering on bottom.
Provenance
Presumably sold in Crutch & MacDonald's store.
Comment
"Blanco" was a cleaner compressed into a block and sold in a tin. With the addition of water, it could be used to clean white clothing and accessories (cricket and tennis shoes, gloves, military uniforms, etc.).
