Description
Surveyor's chain of half-chain used at Camp Columbia. Each link is made of iron wire; the wire extends to each end of the link, forming the connecting ring and returning back to the middle, where the wire is soldered together. The rings are shaped like half-ovals, straight on one side and curved on the other. No visible handles on the chain. Chain is bundled and tied at the middle with thin rope.
Provenance
Camp Columbia ran from 1885-1983, providing a field school for Columbia's engineering and surveying students.
