Description
An oval of jet is set in gold frame with bright cut and this is attached to another gold frame enameled in blue and with four carved gold feathers. A gold initial C is set in jet and has diamond chips. Oval of hair fits in back. Engraved on back "To the berieved Mother/Clinton Van Rensselaer/Emilie L. Vail"

This brooch which must have fitted on a ribbon, was found in a box after all the Tallmadge things were cataloged, so it was added to the collection because of the Tallmadge - Van Rensselaer connection
