Description
Five textile chintz fragments featuring roller printed design on blue ground. Design features repeating pattern of quails in rose trees, done in red, yellow, and blue. Originally glazed cotton. Fragments of different shape and size.
Provenance
Fragments are from bed hanging in Danbury home of donor's grandfather. Accession record contains a note that George Washington may have slept in the bed. The pattern is similar to those produced by Bannister Hall Print Works, Preston, Lancashire, England.
Comment
Part of same bed hanging as 1913-02-1. Fragments B-E were originally assigned accession number x1968-19 a-d.
