Description
Preliminary pattern for St. Joseph, Defender of the Church and Patron of Workers Mosaic, done by Purves in 1964 for the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Numbered (8) in pencil on the far right side. Stamped with “AUSTIN PURVES LITCHFIELD, CONN. 06759” Red, blue, white, brown, orange, and yellow paint and colored pencil on drawing paper over a pencil grid. Utilizes more white space than #5 as well as uses yellow/orange on the top. Folded on the right short edge about 2.5 inches and in the middle.
