Description
Tin, toy money bank painted red. Box shaped like trunk. Decorated with gold painted trimming to look like metal reinforcements with rivets. Gold padlock painted on front. Top stamped "THE/ LITCHFIELD SAVINGS/ SOCIETY/ LITCHFIELD, CONNECTICUT." Bottom of box has a keyhole.
Comment
The Litchfield Savings Society was incorporated in May 1850. In 1952, the bank changed its name to The Litchfield Savings Bank, and changed it again in 1984 to Litchfield Bancorp.
