Description
Black sewn fire bucket. Leather handle attached at top on either side with metal rings. "E.A.J." painted in gold on one side of bucket in center of red painted oval with gold border.
Provenance
This item passed through the Jones family to Eva Colvocoresses Jones (1871-1951), who then passed the item to Marian Camp. It was taken possession of by Mrs. Camp's caretaker, Catherine T. Carr, before being passed back to the Colvocoresses family prior to donation to the Historical Society.
Comment
This fire bucket was owned and used by Captain Eaton A. Jones (1762-1838). The Jones family resided in East Litchfield, CT at the intersection of East Litchfield Road and Buell Road.
