Description
Cardboard tea box. Container made from a five sided box, containing tea, that slides into a four sided container. Box is decorated with a brown printed paper meant to resemble an 18th century tea bale. One end of the box is printed with, "DARTMOUTH/ E.I. CO./ BOHEA TEA/ Destroyed by the/ BOSTON TEA PARTY/ 1775./ Griffin's Wharf, Boston. The other end is printed with, "PACIFIC MAIL STr & R.R./ O.T. Co./ Extra Curious/ Formosa Tea/ Imported by/ Oriental Tea Co./ 1873./ 85 Court St. Boston." Inside the box is a loose card that reads, "Boston, Dec. 16, 1873/ You are invited to drink this tea at your/ home to-night, in commemoration of the glori-ous event we celebrate. Please preserve the/ chest and present it in person, or through your/ descendants, at the next Centennial Anniver-/ sary of this day./ ----/ This Tea, representing the choicest/ goods of the present day, is imported/ and sold by the Oriental Tea Company, at No. 85 Court Street."
