Description
Cardboard cylinder box covered in black paper. Red trim on box lid and bottom. White paper label on front, with image of a bear and what may be two beavers or sables; printed text underneath "FURS RECEIVED ON STORAGE." To the right of the image in printed script, "A. JAECKEL/MANUFACTURER, IMPORTER AND DEALER IN/FINE FURS & GARMENTS/No. 11 EAST 19th STREET/NEW YORK." Small label in center of lid, handwritten, "MERRY CHRISTMAS TO [BLESSIE]."
Provenance
Owned by Victorine DuBois Bissel (Mrs. Edward Bissell), and donated by her great-granddaughter. Originally contained a muff of sable fur with purple silk lining.
