Description
Wool shawl - center panel green with paisley design of reddish-orange, turquoise blue, yellow and white. Bottom 12" on each side has two separate paisley patterns - thicker one in middle, shorter one on end. Predominately red with yellow, green, blue and purple fringe - blocks of multicolored pattern on two sides.
Comment
The shawl was inherited through the donor's mother, Mrs. Thomas Caldwalader Rockhill (nee Dorothea Anne Woodville of Baltimore, MD) of Philadelphia before her marriage and was once owned by Mary Claypoole Rockhill or Woodville of Philadelphia who was the daughter of Captain Abraham George Claypoole of Philadelphia, one of the original members of the PA Society of the Cincinnati
