Description
Painted pine tavern sign, rectangular shaped sign, painted black molding on all four sides, white background, painted in black upper case block letters, "ALE & CAKES./HAY & OATS." Two iron strap-like hangers are attached by screws into the top of the sign.

Believed to be the tavern sign used at the Guild Tavern in Milton, a village in the town of Litchfield, CT.
