Object Name
Glass Insulator
Object Number
2000-14-1
Description
Blue-green glass insulator for an electrical conductor. Heavy. Dome-shaped insulator is hollow in column in the center. Inside the top of the insulator are threads to screw this object firmly onto the conductor. Irregular bubbles, wrinkles in the glass, and some threads of color indicate that these items were probably mass-produced quickly. There is a hollow area between the exterior and interior surfaces of the base where the insulator would rest onto a cylindrical projection to seal the interior from weather and debris.
