Description
Pink and white chintz, bed curtains from Amos Galpins House in Litchfield. Plate printed chinoiserie design in pink on white cotton and linen. The top of the panel is unfaded indicating that a valance was used. Design after pillement "A New Book of Chinese Ornaments" published in London 1755.
Comment
Amos Galpin married Sybil Tallmadge January 31, 1785. Sybil Tallmadge, the cousin of Benjamin Tallmadge, was born in 1760 daughter of James and Martha Roberts. She was first married to R. Broker who sold farm in Schaghtkoke, NY to Isaac, her brother. Galpin fought in the Revolution
