Description
Plastic, souvenir butler brush and sleeve produced for the S.S. Chilcotin. Brush (b) with red plastic handle and yellow plastic bristles. In raised text on one side of handle, "WIZ-KLEAN." Top of handle is shaped in an oblong loop. Sleeve (c) of thin cardboard covered on one side with synthetic leather; sleeve is in the same shape as the brush. Top part of sleeve is stitched onto bottom with brown thread, and is decorated with impressed lettering "S.S. Chilcotin/ALASKA CRUISE" and an emblem of a Native American wearing a feathered headdress.
Provenance
Kept in travel case containing souvenirs of Art Webster and his wife, who went on an Alaskan Cruise on the S.S. Chilcotin in 1952. The Chilcotin was operated by the Union Steamship Company between 1947 and 1958, primarily offering summer Alaskan cruises.
